When talking about Switzerland’s highlights beyond its breathtaking natural landscapes, one thing that inevitably comes to mind is its world-renowned chocolate. Many famous chocolate brands originated in Switzerland, earning the country its reputation for producing the finest chocolate in the world. This legacy has transformed chocolate from a beloved product into a cultural treasure, drawing chocolate enthusiasts from around the globe to experience the true spirit of chocolate appreciation—especially at Festichoc, the largest chocolate festival in Switzerland.
Held at Espace Lachenal in the town of Versoix, Festichoc was first launched in 2005. The festival serves as a platform to showcase the diversity of chocolate to both locals and tourists. It also brings together renowned chocolatiers who craft exquisite creations for visitors to taste throughout the event. One of the highlights is the stunning exhibition of chocolate sculptures, offering a visual feast for attendees. But Festichoc is more than just chocolate tasting—it features a wide range of activities for all ages, making it a fun-filled event for the whole family. Spanning over 2,000 square meters, the festival welcomes more than 50,000 visitors each year.
Getting to Festichoc is easy via both car and public transportation, though public transport is recommended due to the lack of parking at the venue. Visitors can take trains or buses from Geneva, Lausanne, or Nyon. The Swiss Federal Railways (CFF) provides service to Versoix Station, which is just a 400-meter walk from the festival grounds. Alternatively, the Transports Publics Genevois (TPG) bus service—specifically Geneva Line 50—also stops at Versoix, with a similar short walk to the event.
Festichoc is filled with the sweet aroma of chocolate wafting through the air. It offers countless activities for visitors to enjoy, including family-friendly games and workshops. This aligns perfectly with the town of Versoix’s vision of Festichoc as a unifying celebration—bringing people together through a shared love for one thing: chocolate.
